The Matinee
Hey Everyone,

The holiday season is quickly approaching, and we wanted to give everyone a quick update about what's going on with The Matinée these days.

The Peak Performance Project: A couple of weeks ago we had the privilege of playing to a sold-out crowd at the fabled Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC as part of the Peak Performance Project Finale. We were thrilled to be one of the 3 finalists, and we walked away from the evening with a $50,000 cheque to put towards our next record! We have to say a huge thanks to 100.5 The Peak FM, Music BC, the Jim Pattison Broadcasting Group and all of the other bands and faculty who helped make this experience so amazing for us!

Writing Trip/Live Stream: The group of us are currently over on Galliano Island in the Gulf Islands of BC doing some writing for the upcoming record - and we want to give everyone a chance to hear some of the new songs LIVE via Livestream. Tune in to our LIVESTREAM CHANNEL on Friday, Dec 7 at 6:00pm (PST) as we will be playing an acoustic set featuring a few of the new songs we have written this week. You can also check out our first Galliano Video Blog HERE.

Shows: We've been playing a lot of shows around town lately, and we're looking forward to some down time as we get ready to record the next record. Our next Vancouver show is Saturday Feb. 18 at the VENUE with our good friends The Washboard Union. It's a ways away, but you can click HERE to get tickets as this show will sell out. This will be our chance to showcase a bunch of the new songs from the record to everyone before the actual release of the album!

On that note, we want to wish everyone a very happy holiday season! Make sure to enjoy yourself, but make sure to be safe.....we're excited to see everyone in the new year!!

Cheers,

The Matinée

I wanted to share my original Christmas song with you. I recorded it in Nashville and hope to release it in the next 10 days or so. I basically wrote this one about my family so I put my heart and soul into it.

Cynthia Leigh-Ann

We would like to introduce to you a very talented young Canadian Pop Country Artist.

Charismatic, Creative, Original and hard working are just a few words to describe one of Canada's up and coming country/pop artists. Born and raised in Kelowna, BC, Canada. Cynthia Leigh-Ann has made music, her chosen career in life. A 2011 Juno nominee, Cynthia Leigh-Ann works hard for her dreams and producing amazing music is on the top of her list. Her debut album "Daddy's Girl" was released in January of this year (2011). And her new single `How Could You` is made it the 11th position on the XS Indie Spotlight Charts on CKXS FM of Wallacebury, Ontario. This along with the Merritt Mountain Music Festival and her days at the Armstrong IPE Fair are among her favourite shows. Writing and performing are moments where she shines.

Writing every song on the album, excluding the last two, she has told stories of love, heartbreak, and friendship. This young star is going to make it big in this world as a known Country Singer.

Cynthia Leigh-Ann's has just released her new Christmas Single "Christmas Memories”. We have attached a link to the wav file for Christmas Memories.

The Matinée

There has a been a bunch of very cool stuff happening in The Matinée camp over the past few weeks. We've been as busy as ever, but we wouldn't want it any other way!

The Peak Performance Project: We are thrilled to have been named as one of the top 3 artists in this year's Peak Perfomance Project!! The finale will take place on Thursday Nov. 17 at the fabled Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC and will feature The Matinée performing along with The Boom Booms and Current Swell. Tickets are currently sold out, but you can check our website at www.thematineemusic.com to see how you can win 2 FREE tickets to the show. We are also hoping that the venue will be releasing extra tickets closer to the event, and you can tune in to 100.5 The Peak FM (www.thepeak.fm) and listen for your chance to win on-air ticket giveaways.

BCCMA's: We are incredibly excited to be nominated for 3 awards at this year's BC Country Music Awards. We are nominated for Group/Duo of the Year, Roots Artist of the Year and the Ray McAuley New Artist of the Year. Our website has also been nominated as the Website of the Year - so a huge congratulations to our web-designer Cloe Windus. We will be performing at the awards show on Sunday November 20 at the Red Robinson Theatre in Coquitlam, BC, as well as the BCCMA Industry Awards Show on November 19 (also at the Red Robinson Theatre). Tickets are available on the BCCMA website.

Free Download: If you head over to the Peak Performance Project website, you can still get a free download of our song The Sinking of the Greenhill Park. This song was inspired by a ship that caught fire in the Port of Vancouver back in 1945, and is our ode to Vancouver 125. You can also check out a video that we did of this song with our good friends at Green Couch Productions by going here.

Arts Northwest Showcase: We had the pleasure of showcasing at the Arts Northwest Conference a couple of weeks back in Eugene, Oregon. We had a blast performing, and it was great to meet a bunch of the presenters. We're hoping this showcase will lead to a bunch of American Festival dates in the New Year.....so stay tuned for upcoming tour dates!

2011 Vancouver Grey Cup: We are excited to be part of this year's Grey Cup Festival! We will be performing on Saturday Nov. 26 on the PlayNow.com stage - the show starts at 6:00pm!

Other than playing a few more shows around Vancouver, we are spending a lot of time working on new material for the upcoming album (to be recorded in the new year!). Please remember that November is also Prostate Cancer Awareness Month - look for all of us guys to be sporting mustaches by some point later in the month!!

One More Girl

Sisters Carly & Britt McKillip – One More Girl – are finishing up a busy but productive eight week stay in Los Angeles, where they’ve been writing for their upcoming album on Interscope Records (planned release date of April 2012), and recording at Jimmy Iovine's reknowned Tom Tom Club. The girls are heading home to Vancouver on November 19th, just in time to perform at the BCCMA Awards, where they’ve received several nominations including ‘Group or Duo’, and ‘Entertainer’. After that, it's some much needed down-time with friends, family and critters until Christmas. The top of 2012 is already looking busy for One More Girl, with a planned trip to Nashville to finish writing the last few songs for their album, and the release of their next single and video – ‘ Maybe', shot in L.A. – scheduled for January 3rd.
