ROB HESS |
|
Rob Hess currently living in Surrey, BC was born in Outlook, Saskatchewan. Within 4 years the family moved to Fernie, BC. Singing in a four-part harmony, was an integral part of the Hess home. His 7 siblings all sing, and they even had their own family band. Rob returned to the Prairies for High School, where he nurtured his love for singing in the small and large chorus, as well as two accapella groups. After grad, Rob moved back to Boston Bar, then Mission. In 1997, Rob took a nursing course, which changed his life. He now works with the elderly and disabled. He hopes to upgrade his education to a RN and one day go to South America or Africa and continue sharing his gift for healing through laughter and empathy. When Rob isn’t with his daughter or working, he devotes what little time he has left to his music and his spirit. For three years Rob had been writing and recording his songs for his first CD Demo “Bruised”. Working with John Roles of Burnaby, he song-by-song, worked out the details. Rob is currently writing and recording songs for his second CD.
Just to name a few events that Rob has performed live at locally and provincially. The Keepin’ Country Alive Fundraiser (directed by the BCCMA). The Merritt Mountain Music Festival in 2003. The BCCMA’s Wildfire Relief Benefit (2003) and the Annual BC Country Music Awards Show in 2003 from which he won the BC Country Horizon Award.
In December Rob was awarded the Song of the Year Award with the BC Songwriters Society Association. There have been many other events throughout the Year. “Meals on Wheels” fundraiser in Mission was a great success in many ways. Rob’s CD ‘Bruised’ sold out within the first intermission with many orders for more. The CD’s raised over $250.00 which was directed to the “Meals on Wheels”, who help those in need who cannot get out to do their own shopping, the disabled and elderly.
As a side note, Rob’s second CD will be completed in the Fall of 2004.
