NIKKI WERNER |
|
Growing up in a small Canadian town has its advantages. The rewards of
a hard days work, summer evenings spent with family and acoustic
guitars around the campfire help create a down to earth attitude;
that's what country music is all about. So it is no wonder that from
an early age, you could find a young Nikki Werner using her comb as
her microphone performing in front of the mirror the tunes of her
favorite country artists. And it's that same youthful energy and love
for the music that is in every breath of her songs.
“Like a smile, a hug and a sweet warm touch.” Byron James from JRFM in Vancouver quotes: "Nikki Werner and her band have an enthusiastic presence with a new country sound that's right where it needs to be!" In spring 2004, Nikki released her first CD that featured 9 original songs and one cover. After the release, she was excited to find that her music was being played on Canadian country radio. Nikki and her band have also been featured in Country Music News (January 2005), The Rag Magazine and multiple newspaper articles. Nikki recently received three nominations for the 2005 BC Country Music Awards held in October 2005. She was nominated for Female Vocalist and Ray McAuley Horizon Awards and her website was nominated for Website of the Year.
Nikki Werner has had the honour of performing for
many diverse audiences. Notable show highlights from 2004/05 include:
Nikki and her husband/band leader, Kris, have written with Rick Tippe and Ron Briggs. She is currently working on a new album slated for release in 2006 under the production of Ron Briggs (drumming credits; Farmers Daughter, Lisa Brokop & Aaron Pritchett). Keeping up with a busy performance schedule, Nikki is also working with writers from Nashville and across the country. People have said Nikki's voice is like a combination of the sincerity of Martina McBride with the attitude of Terri Clark. Connecting with every audience she sings for and sending a lasting impression home with them after the show, it's clear that she loves what she does. “I love performing country music –it’s who I am!” |
