KATE HAYWARD

At 17, Kate Hayward enjoys significant acclaim as an aspiring singer/songwriter.  

2006 is moving at a furious pace. In January Kate gained a finalist (Top 6) spot in the Quarterly CAMEO “Teen-Start” Award. Kate had her 1st P.R. Photo shoot at Cordalis Photography, and studied voice with singer/teacher Tracy Chamberlain.  In February 2006, Kate spent many hours with music professional, Pete Cordalis, recording both her 2nd covers demo and her first 6 track original demo CD.

On 18th Kate sang with 3rd generation BCCMA Group “The Johnson Brothers”.  Kate was also very excited to Audition for Canadian Idol over 25/26th succeeding through the 1st and 2nd rounds of judging, receiving very positive feedback concerning her “great voice” and “powerful delivery” from executive producers.  In March, Kate was thrilled to perform as an “Open Mic” Entertainer at the Kamloops Annual Cowboy Festival on 12th, performing 2 sets: firstly under the direction of “BC Country Hall of Famer” Budd Webb, and later accompanied by celebrated “Cowboy” artist and songwriter Allen Christie. April found Kate Competing in the Beat 94.5 Pop/R&B Music Awards 2006, moving easily through the first round of 300+ on the 8th to the Final 15, and competing in top gear at Metropolis Metrotown on the 22nd to gain 6th Position overall.  May brought multiple opportunities for Kate, winning the Semi-Final of the BC Junior Talent Search at Clover Square on the 19th, and securing 3rd in the Semi-Professional Final with an Outstanding display at Cloverdale Rodeo on the 21st.  In addition, on Saturday the 20th,  Kate was honoured to be invited onto Surrey Mayor Diane Watt’s Parade float to entertain visitors, dignitaries and onlookers alike whilst leading the Parade route around Cloverdale (a.k.a. Smallville!)  June began on a high with Kate taking Top spot in the 2nd CAMEO “Teen Start” Contest of 2006, Winning Recording time, Voice training and Photo shoots.  Weeks 2 & 3 saw Kate’s Professional Debut CD “Funky Country” completed; courtesy of Pete Cordalis and Green Room Studios, Abbotsford B.C.

 July is just one non-stop performance…

July 8th at Hastings Race Course, Vancouver. Opening  “Women in Country”.
July 9th at The Azure Lounge, Plaza of Nations, Vancouver. with “March Hare”.
And no less than 5 performances during Merritt “Mountainfest”  week July 2006:
Thurs 13th to Sun 16th daily from 1 – 1.30pm on the “Downtown Stage” in Merritt
And at “Mountainfest” on the “Little Big Stage” on Saturday July 15th @ 6pm, opening the show for Darryl Worley, Carolyn Dawn Johnson and Travis Tritt.

Kate’s Debut CD - “Funky Country” - A 10 track original album including her own work will be available for sale at July venues & the “Mountainfest” BCCMA Booth.
