JKG
has been involved in music most of his life. Born in Nelson BC, he
quickly became attached to music through his mother who would play the
organ for hours on end. At
the age of ten, JKG took an avid interest in the drums. “ I remember
my dad trying to talk me out of it saying, ‘ you cant play the drums
around the campfire son’ “ But none the less at the age of thirteen
after getting lessons from his Uncle, Nationally renowned drummer Rod
Goodrick (RJG), he got his first drum kit. By the age of fifteen JKG was
playing in band at his local high school.
It was during this time that JKG discovered that he could sing as
well. In
1990 JKG and his family relocated to Mexico, where he lived for 7 years
before returning to Canada. Upon
returning to Canada, JKG immediately started working on getting a band
together. In 2001 during
Streetfest In Nelson BC, JKG met Tad Campbell (Former Lead Singer And
Writer For The Band “Idle Eyes”). Tad Invited JKG to be a part
of his upcoming show with Loverboy, thus introducing JKG to the world he
had dreamed of his whole life. Eventually
JKG relocated to Kelowna, where he met Len Peters, a local producer. Len
offered JKG the opportunity to record one of his songs.
JKG looked at the song but was unable to feel the song. He
requested permission to re-write the song so as to make it more his own.
Permission granted, he did so and that song became “Unconditional
Love”.
Over the following years, JKG continued to write more songs, and
in the spring of 2004 was able to go into a studio in Vancouver and
record them. JKG was also invited to perform at the Merritt Mountain
Music Festival in 2004, where his song “The Merritt Song” was
adopted as Theme Song for the festival.
JKG performs regularly in the Vancouver area as well as in the
Okanagan area. |
