ART PRUCE

Art Pruce is destined to be one of Canada's most exciting new Country talents. Pruce has a passion for music, a strong unmistakable singing voice and a keen ear for melody. His voice is well suited to singing Country ballads, but he is also a solid force on the guitar and fans in his home province respond enthusiastically to his performances.

His musical style reflects a variety of influences - from Merle Hagard, to Dan Seals, to Ronnie Milsap. Pruce also acknowledges players like John Jorgenson and Mark Knoppler as key influences. From southern rock to the soft rock of the seventies, to folk and gospel - Art loves them all. His own style has emerged with a full sound with clean and distinguished notes and music that is never too "busy". Many of his songs naturally have a crossover appeal, and the combination makes Pruce's music a winner with Country and Adult Contemporary music fans alike. Whether you're dancing to the irresistible honky-tonk shuffle of "Leave Me the Way You Left Me" or grooving to "All I'll Ever Need", the stylistic diversity will appeal to you whether you love Haggard, Jackson, Straight or Seager.

A native of northern Ontario, Pruce grew-up surrounded by a loving and supportive family. He is self-taught and has gained experience from playing in bands from eastern to western Canada. He began playing the guitar at the age of fifteen, and at the age of 20 was playing lead guitar and singing lead vocals with Country Haywire and opening the Burwash Music Festival. He moved west to British Columbia and has since lent his guitar and vocals to various acts including the established touring Country band, NorthWynd and the Iron Mountain Band. Now a veteran performer and an exceptional musician, Art Pruce has struck out on his own and is fast developing a hot solo career that will see him enjoying the company of the top talents of the Canadian Country music scene.

It was through the encouragement of his friend and colleague, award winning singer/songwriter, Jackie Sullivan, that Pruce first began to explore his talents as a songwriter - a craft at which he has been working steadily to hone. A down-to-earth person, Art Pruce feels most at ease when riding his motorcycle on an open highway, and many of his songs that appear on his debut album have been inspired during long road trips. His songs have honesty about them that touch people from every walk of life. His music is about real life and tell stories that people can relate to.

In demoing his music, he discovered his love for working in the recording studio, and he acknowledges the process has taught him a great deal about himself as a musician. He has written a number of songs and is now embarking on recording his debut album with one of Canada's top producers, Tom McKillip, and award winning engineer, Craig Zurba. After the release of his debut album, Pruce will embark on a promotional tour that will take him from radio stations to music festivals to performing his acoustic music in intimate settings around the province.

Married to his best friend since 1995, Art and Lori are not only tracking his solo career but are also kept very busy raising their three children. "My family is my first priority and I never want to lose that focus. They are my motivation and my inspiration to pursue a career in music."
